John Paton's Soft Morning City and Classical Revolution Vancouver
Sir Run Run has an interesting one for us this week. Not only will we br treated to one of the finest young bands to be playing the Vancouver Jazz Fest this year, but also to representatives from the renegade chamber music underground!
Plus more creative cocktailery from gadabout town, Emmet Groves!
BIKE VALET IN FULL EFFECT FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO BE UNDER THE SAME ROOF AS THEIR BICYCLE!
CLASSICAL REVOLUTION VANCOUVER is a local, inclusive and ever changing group of musicians who love to sneak classical music to unusual venues. They are the local chapter of an international grassroots movement dedicated to making classical music casual and accessible. Beer and Bach is a surprisingly great combination!
Classical Rev Vancouver also puts on a a regular chamber music reading night at the Prophouse Cafe on Venables @ Commercial Drive: 1st Tuesday of each month from 7-10pm.
SOFT MORNING CITY
Saxophonist/composer John Paton’s Soft Morning City uses a unique double guitar/no bass instrumentation to create spacious music that allows for great sonic interplay between the melodic instruments and Paul Townsend’s expressive drumming. Sumptuous and sinuous modern jazz! With Kevin Elaschuk trumpet, Cole Schmidt, Sam King guitar.
Sir Run Run's Tiny Dynasty is an opportunity to hang out in the early evening, drink some nice beer (or your preferred equivalent), socialize a bit, and also hear great performances by a wide range of exceptional artists in the newly transformed and cozy-ified lobby of the Rickshaw Theatre.
