Scythia EP and Tour Kickoff featuring Nylithia and Terrifier
Join in on a night of epic local proportions! Scythia will be releasing their newest EP "For the Bear" and will be hitting the road on a Canada/US tour. The night will also be featuring one of Vancouver's best hyperthrash bands as the headliner: Nylithia! Kicking off the night will be another local favourite: Terrifier (formerly called Skullhammer)
We will also have the lovely and radiant Mahafsoun performing onstage with Scythia and for those of you who are in the know, can understand why we are all very excited to have her! A must see for anyone!
Come out and support your local scene and help Scythia kick off this tour the right way!
Formed in late 2008, Scythia is not your older brother’s metal band. Unless that band had an oboe of death, echoes of thunder, and a knack for writing folk metal tunes. So what is Scythia? At the most primitive level, it is epic storytelling set to modern progressive metal. With a whole lot of dynamic, intense goodness, of course.
Nylithia was founded in 2008 by Royce Costa (guitars), Tyler Erhardt (drums), and Kyle Scott (vocals). The word Nylithia was created out of the conceptual idea of a nihilistic utopia, which in itself is contradictory since it is impossible for a nihilist to have a utopia when there is no option for a perfect world within their view. With that in mind, Royce, Kyle, and Tyler set out to create a soundtrack of calamity; a sound which would be uniquely identifiable in its overall tone and unbridled aggression. Soon after the first rehearsal sessions, bassist Nathan Rothstein was added into the fold, and the stage was set to bring the hyperthrash sound to a wider audience.
Skull Hammer was formed in 2003 in Kelowna, B.C. by childhood friends Chase Thibodeau and Rene Wilkinson (age 15). With a strong vision of true thrash metal in their sights, they quickly filled out the line-up with Richard MacKenzie on vocals, Sean Jones on guitar and Jerome Brewer on drums. Since then the band has been a force to be reckoned within the B.C. metal scene, sharing the stage with such acts as 3 Inches of Blood, Divinity, Dismembered and Augury to name a few. Also with the release of their album "Destroyers of the Faith", Skull Hammer has received more recognition in the global metal community.
