    Spring Album Release Party
with Inhabitants and Johnny de Courcy and the Death Rangers
    Performance by Kokoro Dance

East Vancouver’s psychedelic rock quartet Spring is set to release their debut album Celebrations, on March 4th, with a release party at the Rickshaw theatre to follow on March 7th.

Buy an 8 dollar advanced ticket for March 7th and receive 5 bucks off a CD or LP for Spring's Debut "Celebrations."

Celebrations explores a lush and dynamic landscape, traversing sonic territory from warm, delicate finger-picked passages to vast, doomy riffage. Harnessing the Do-It-Yourself work ethic, the band chose to record and self-produce the album entirely in their home studio.

The musicians of Spring have been playing together in various incarnations for more than six years. The band is made up of some of the busiest tour-hardened musicians in East Vancouver's vibrant music scene. Having been instrumental in the success of bands like psych rock quartet SSRIs, iconic Canadian punk outfit The Rebel Spell, and acclaimed indie pop experimentalists Aunts & Uncles, Bleating Hearts and Thee Ahs, the seasoned multi-instrumentalists of Sprïng are poised to launch an exciting career bolstered by their previous successes.

As SSRIs, Jo and Elliot self-released a full length album, three EPs and toured across Canada three times. The band received accolades for their explosive live performances and their musically adventurous mix of genres, and were featured on the cover of the Georgia Straight leading up to the release of their acclaimed full length “Effeminate Godzilla Sized Windchimes”. SSRIs played over 150 shows in including opening spots for renowned international acts (Electric Six, The Most Serene Republic) and festival appearances including the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Olio, Sled Island, Music Waste and Shindig.

Formed in 2004, Vancouver's Inhabitants have ascended to become one of Canada's most prominent creative music ensembles. In 2009, Inhabitants were nominated for a Juno Award for 'Instrumental Album of the Year', a National Jazz Award for 'Electric Group of the Year' and a Western Canadian Music Award for 'Instrumental Recording of the Year'. Their singular approach defies genre, melding jazz, rock, noise and free improvisation with new perspective. Trumpeter JP Carter, guitarist Dave Sikula, bassist Pete Schmitt and drummer Skye Brooks find a rare cohesiveness in Inhabitants, cultivated from years of musical collaboration in groups like Fond of Tigers, Copilots, Carsick, DarkBlueWorld, The NOW Orchestra, Tony Wilson's 6tet, and the Aeroplane Trio.

Johnny de Courcy and the Death Rangers

Johnny de Courcy was born in his mothers bed in an old house on Commercial Drive in the late eighties. His musical style is very "classic" with influences from Neil Young, Elliott Smith, Weezer and the Beatles. If you didn't know, Johnny used to play in New Westminsters "metal titans" Black Wiz. But being a titan of metal can sometimes get boring so de Courcy left to pursue the (softer) songs in his heart with some help from longtime friend/producer Michael Kraushaar. After recording the Bad Teeth cassette in 2011, Green Burrito records put that baby on the shelves and the rest is history. de Courcy recently released his debut LP "Johnny de Courcy and the Death Rangers" and has been touring "relentlessly" in wake of it.
