    El Tri
with guests the Mighty One, Mariachi Los Dorados

The grandfathers of Mexican rock play Canada for the first time ever.

    El Tri
The legendary Mexican rock band El Tri plays their first date in Canada on their summer tour. This is only lead singer Alex Lora's second date in Canada and the first time on the west coast with the full band. The band is expected to play classic songs such as "Las piedras rodantes" and "Triste cancion" along with some of their newer tunes like "Contigo Me Conformo" and "Me Vale Madres". It promises to be a high energy show, one not to be missed, as this opportunity doesn’t come often.

Referred to as the grandfathers of Mexican rock, El Tri was formed in 1985 by Alex Lora from his earlier band Three Souls in My Mind that he had been with since 1968. El Tri was the first Mexican rock band to have a Gold certified record with their album 'Simplemente' which contains their first single "Triste Canción". In 1986, their song "Vicioso Del Rocanrol" became a hit in Peru, topping radio charts there. To this day, the band is revered in Peru, as well as the United States. El Tri's songs cover a wide variety of subjects: many songs are written to reflect the personal experiences of founder Alex Lora, and others reflect more of the reality of the daily lives of average Mexicans.

    The Mighty One
The Mighty One was created by veteran musician Tim Steinruck in 2008. Originally from northern BC, he moved to Vancouver where he quickly established himself within the Top 40 club scene and for over 10 years enjoyed touring within North America. The band Unchained, which began as a Van Halen tribute act, eventually evolved into an original entity of which he was a major songwriting contributor.

The band succeeded in securing a development deal, and speculative multi-million record deal with producer Paul Stanley of Kiss and Polygram Records. The band was flown to Kiss's studio in North Hollywood to record an EP which remains unreleased. The emergence of 'grunge' stalled Unchained's evolution and Tim soon began to focus on his personal producing and songwriting talents.

Through several versions of his ultimate creative vehicle, Tim finally crystallized his vision in the creation of TheMightyOne. He enlisted Devin Townsend (Steve Vai, Lamb of God, The Devin Townsend Project) to produce the single "Reprieved" from the debut self titled album, and secured renowned mixer Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Rush, Metallica) to ensure the single's recognition at radio. The album and single have received solid play across North America in 2010 charting as high as #2 in some areas. The video for "Reprieved" is still currently in regular rotation at Much Loud.

    Mariachi Los Dorados
Previously known as Mariachi Romántico, Mariachi Los Dorados was established in the city of Vancouver, BC. It was founded on May 5th 2003 by its director Alex Alegria. His goal was to bring to Canada the traditional music of Mexico, best known as Mariachi music. Mariachi Los Dorados' name comes from General Francisco Villa's army “Los Dorados” in which some members were from North America. Los Dorados are well known through Western Canada for their mixture of Canadian and Mexican talent. These musicians deliver the passion, love and respect they feel for Mexico and its culture. One of the missions of Mariachi Los Dorados is to maintain and promote the beauty of Mexico through its traditional and uplifting music. For that reason, Alex Alegria has opened the Los Dorados Mariachi School. This is the first of its kind in Canada, a place where youth and adults develop their understanding of Mariachi music.
