Omnium Gatherum
Finland’s Omnium Gatherum formed in 1996 and emerged from a vibrant European metal scene with a series of acclaimed demos. With a sound that blended the raging brutality of Scandinavian death metal with a rich sense of melody and harmony, the band’s debut album Spirits & August Light was released in 2003 via UK imprint Rage Of Achilles, and received ecstatic reviews in numerous metal mags across Europe. The Finns ploughed forward for the next few years, releasing a series of critically lauded albums that further explored guitarist Markus Vanhala’s unique sonic and compositional world. From 2004’s bullish and streamlined Years In Waste to 2013’s wildly atmospheric Beyond, Omnium Gatherum were gaining momentum and legions of new fans with each creative step and each successive campaign of intense live performances. Despite enduring the usual highs, lows and line-up changes, this band were plainly built for the long haul.
Allegaeon

Hailing from Colorado, Allegaeon fuse punishing death metal riffs with expansive, surprisingly non-death-obsessed lyrics to create their own style of thoughtful and pummeling heavy metal. Emerging in 2010 with the highly regarded Fragments of Form and Function, the band continued to hone their melody-driven technical death metal sound on subsequent standout efforts like 2014’s Elements of the Infinite and 2019’s Apoptosis.
Black Crown Initiate
Employing a punitive blend of blackened death metal, heady progressive metal, and blistering metalcore, Pennsylvania’s Black Crown Initiate emerged in 2012 and found success with the arrival of their 2016 sophomore effort, Selves We Cannot Forgive. The band continued to build momentum both at home and abroad with the release of 2020’s Violent Portraits of Doomed Defeat, their first outing for Century Media. The Reading-based unit was founded by James Dorton (vocals), Rik Stelzpflug (guitar, vocals), Andy Thomas (guitar, vocals), Nick Shaw (bass), and Jesse Beahler (drums).
