The Cramps, Gun Club + Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds alumni Kid Congo Powers returns to the Rickshaw with his band, The Pink Monkey Birds! Catch them playing tracks off their upcoming album ‘This Delicious Vice’ and much more! With support from Vancouver’s own Cawama, and Night Court (who will be celebrating the release of their new record) this is gonna be a wild one!

Kid Congo and The Pink Monkey Birds

Yes the same Kid Congo who founded the Gun Club, left to tour in Cramps and then went back to Gun Club until Jeffery Lee Pierce passed. Afterwards he was founding rhythm guitar player in Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Few guitar players can claim to play for two of the greatest rock&roll bands ever before they joined the Bad Seeds. These days Kid fronts the Pink Monkeybirds and about to release his fifth album now on In the Red Records. Also featured in band is Marcus Cisneros, a Discord DC veteran musician also performs the Pink Monkeybirds; he plays in Make Up/Des Demonas/Hammered Hulls currently.

Cawama

Serving as the soundtrack to their youths, the energetic, envelope pushing tones of classic punk and 70s garage rock, mixed with a healthy nostalgia for late 50’s surf are without doubt the influential driving forces behind Cawama’s unique brand of music.

Night Court

Vancouver power trio Night Court was born during the great lockdown of 2020. With a wide pool of influences and rave reviews – “loose and crazy indie punk-pop with solid drive and inventive style” (The Big Takeover), “kind of indie rock-ish at times, catchy yet dripping, with feedback in all the right places.” (Razorcake) – Night Court’s energetic live performances have earned them gigs supporting everyone from hometown punk progenitors Pointed Sticks to Welsh post-hardcore noise enthusiasts Mclusky. Their new album, $hit Machine, is coming out on November 1st, and they’ll be celebrating the release at The Rickshaw Theatre opening for Kid Congo and the Pink Monkey Birds.
