Hey Friends,
as you know by now, I’m not doing super great health wise. Cancer is a bitch, but I refuse to let it stop me from doing the things I love. So, while I can no longer sing, I can still strum the hell out of six strings and I intend to do that for at least one more time as I gather my rag tag band of hooligans, The Still Spirits, along with a crew of some of my favourite local acts to throw one hell of a benefit party in the hallowed halls of the Rickshaw Theatre.Details are still forming up, along with the final line up of bands, but the basic idea is this:
– Gather at the Rickshaw
– All admission is by donation (either at the door or via the GoFundMe campaign)
– Bands will be announced as I secure them
– Music, Drinks and Dancing will commence
– For any night owls, we will be staying up into the wee hours watching my favorite films of all time after the show
– EVERYONE is invited, NO ONE will be turned away for lack of funds, ALL DONATIONS are welcome
Please, help spread the word. Know that if we’ve ever met, I consider you a friend and you are invited. This is for you all as much as it is for me.Life was made for living.Life was made for friends.
So, let’s live, together. At least for one more night!
Featuring performances from Los Furios, Still Spirits, Die Job, Alien Boys, Brasser, Jesse Lebourdais + Special Guests
Los Furios
Los Furios is a Ska Reggae Punk Rock band from Vancouver BC. Since 2002, they have been entertaining audiences with a unique blend of Ska Punk & Reggae with Latin influences. Nothing slams like a Furios dance floor. See you in the mix.
Still Spirits
The Still Spirits are a 6-piece yardcore band from the backwoods of Maple Ridge. For over a decade they’ve been selling an intoxicating blend of bluegrass, spiked with the pure passion of punk rock, all across Western Canada. Bringing a thirst quenching fury to dance floors and back yard barn-burners, these fine fellows present a live energy that can only truly be experienced properly amongst the thriving crowds at one of their hooch fueled hootenannies. From their humble beginnings as street buskers, rehearsing and recording their first EP in their own shine shack, to the sweat soaked stages across countless clubs, dives and speakeasies, one thing remains certain:
If The Still Spirits are in your town, you better ready your livers and shine up your dancing shoes!
Die Job
https://www.kindacoolrecords.com/diejob
DIE JOB is a melodic punk band from East Vancouver, Canaduh.
With cutting social commentary and searing electric Viola dancing centre stage, Die Job delivers hook after hook with contagious attitude. Their unique brand of poetic protest music is praised not only by their peers, but by some of their greatest influences. With explosive drums, expressive bass lines, and enough heart to keep you singing along with every word, this is melodic punk rock for the modern age. Anthemic and infectious. Raw and real. Fierce but fun.
Brasser
Queer fronted ska punk from Vancouver, BC! Big punk sound with a wailing sax , sultry trumpet, and catchy vox. Dancing, moshing, headbanging. We want it all!
It doesn’t matter if you like ska or not, our sound will make you move.
Brasser is an independent band that builds its own reputation of destruction.
Jesse Lebourdais
https://www.jesselebourdais.com/
Jesse LeBourdais was born in Horsefly, BC; a small town in the Cariboo. He has spent the majority of his adult life living in Vancouver, BC. For over 20 years, he has been putting rubber to road and fingers to chords, performing hundreds of shows across thousands of kilometres, travelling with little more than a guitar, his unique voice, and a will to endure all there is to be found.
With his music, he sings songs steeped in the folk traditions of storytelling and fueled by the raw emotion of punk rock. Sometimes played solo, sometimes played with a full band, his songs reveal common veins of life, humanity and hope, affirmed through heart-felt lyrics and passionate performances.
