Originating from the Swiss Alps and blending Modern Metal with Celtic musical tradition – Eluveitie returns to the Rickshaw Theatre on February 26th with support from NiNi and Illumishade!
Eluveitie
ELUVEITIE, formed in 2002 by Chrigel Glanzmann, has consistently merged modern metal with Celtic musical traditions. Originating from the Swiss Alps and deeply rooted in Celtic history, mythology, and spirituality, the band has become a cornerstone of the modern metal scene. Their debut, Vên (2004), set the stage for a unique blend of melodic death metal and traditional folk.
NiNi
Nini, a distinguished musician hailing from Taiwan, has dedicated over two decades to mastering and performing traditional Chinese folk instruments. Her extensive experience has taken her on tours across Europe, the USA, Canada, China, Japan, and throughout her homeland. Nini’s innovative approach to music involves playing genres such as heavy metal, rock, and EDM on traditional instruments like the Ruan, Liuqin, and San Xian. She also performs on a unique electric lute known as the DaoYu, which she uses to create a distinctive and modern sound that bridges cultural and musical boundaries.
Illumishade
Hailing from Switzerland, ethereal modern metal outfit ILLUMISHADE are about to embark on their most ambitious chapter yet.
Founded in Zürich in 2019 by vocalist Fabienne Erni and guitarist Jonas Wolf, ILLUMISHADE quickly took on a life of their own. Their debut album ECLYPTIC: Wake of Shadows (2020) spectacularly showcased the core elements of the group: a sweeping blend of cinematic grandeur, majestic melodies and virtuoso musicianship that was entirely their own, brought to life in no small part by the orchestral imagination of film composer Mirjam Skal.
Come 2026, ILLUMISHADE step boldly into a new era as a fully independent band. Their latest single Paralyzed stands tall as a blueprint for all things to come — melancholic yet hard-hitting, boasting a bold sonic identity to match the band’s genuine originality.
