Legendary SoCal power trio Agent Orange bring their blend of frantic punk rock and surf rock to The Cobalt with support from Big John Bates!

*LINE UP UPDATE: Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control Messer Chups have had to drop out of performing at our upcoming Agent Orange show on May 16th at the Cobalt. However, we are more than excited to announce Vancouver’s own unique Blues, Psychobilly, Garage Rock, and Punk band, Big John Bates, have been added to the bill.*

Agent Orange

The Original Southern California Punk/Surf Power Trio, Agent Orange, is one of only a handful of bands who have been continually active since the earliest days of the West Coast Punk Scene.

A small circle of musical rebels who came together to form a movement, they took their place front and center to experience and participate in the explosion of now legendary underground music that was created during the golden era of American Punk Rock.

Being the first to combine the melodic California surf guitar sound with the frantic energy of punk, Agent Orange invented the formula that would come to define the Orange County punk sound. Highly influential to many of the bands who have followed in their path, Agent Orange have always stayed one step ahead.

Big John Bates

Psychobilly, Garage Rock and Punk Blues are a few of the labels that have been attached to Big John Bates. John began his career as singer and co-founder of Canadian thrash metal legends Annihilator and never stopped. Big John Bates grew out of the beginnings of the second-wave psychobilly scene, carving out a reputation in Europe and across North America with a big Gretsch, a gruff baritone and an infamous live show. 2023 saw BJB’s return to the stage, turning a 4-year hiatus into a new beginning; assembling a rock’n’roll trio with a barn-burner of a setlist that spans their career.
