With their new LP ‘Empty Century’ out next month, Vancouver punk rock three piece Aversions are holding their record release at the Rickshaw on Saturday, August 23rd. With special guests water margin, Rougaroux, ?NUMB?DAME?, and Truster
Aversions
Vancouver three-piece Aversions make clamorous post-punk that is at once cathartic and anxiety-inducing, where the structured womp of post-hardcore shares space with the chilly, subterranean textures of goth to conjure a unique strain of “lush brutality.”
With appearances on Bandcamp’s New and Notable, Spotify editorial playlists such as “All-New Punk” and institutional Canadian outlets such as Exclaim! magazine, Aversions (whom Adam Kamis of CJSW Calgary called on-air “the hardest working band in Western Canada”) continue solidifying their place within the landscape of certified Canadian rock and roll lifers.
water margin
Vancouver’s water margin mine and expand upon the rich history of North American post-hardcore, crafting smart, muscular, and propulsive rock songs that don’t overstay their welcome. With a triking dual vocal attack, spindly interlocking guitar textures, and a powerful, melodic rhythm section, the band’s been making waves in the Vancouver music scene and abroad, with tours of eastern Canada and an appearance at Calgary’s seminal Sled Island Music festival under their belts. In 2025, the band also released their first LP, Gleaming Cursed, which Pitchfork called “an astonishingly self-assured debut” in a positive review.
Rougaroux
Rougaroux is a scream into the void, a holding close to chosen family, and a demand for a brighter future. This eclectic post-punk five piece project hailing from Burnaby, BC works themes on queer identity into high-energy, gut-wrenching mosh pit fuel. Rougaroux is made for screaming along to in your car, and pre- gaming queer prom. The five-piece queercore project started in 2021, after the isolation of the pandemic bred a desperate need inside this chosen family to make their art. After an EP, several singles, and a debut LP in 2025, they can be heard in small-town church basements, UK radio shows, and one bold karaoke bar in Algeria.
?NUMB?DAME?
?NUMB?DAME? (The band? The myth? The legend?)
…Is a queer, DIY rock band from “Vancouver;” the stolen territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh. It has been described as “art punk,” emo and experimental.
?NUMB?DAME? released its debut LP give us ten million dollars to kill arms dealers on June 11th 2025 with an accompanying music video, but the band is conceptualized foremost as a live experience.
When you come to a ?NUMB?DAME? performance, expect improvisation, social commentary, dance grooves, and very loud noise. The band gigs constantly throughout the Lower Mainland and has toured throughout BC. Featuring: grace mural on guitar and vocals, camryn sunshine on bass, and THE ZANIAC on drums.
