Detroit’s hedonistic disco punks Electric Six return to the Rickshaw with hard rock cowpunk pranksters Supersuckers! Don’t miss a night of debauchery on May 9th, with guest openers VOLK.
Electric Six
Electric Six is a six-piece American rock band formed in 1996 in Detroit, Michigan. The band achieved recognition in 2003 with the singles “Danger! High Voltage” and “Gay Bar”. The dance-rock pioneers are back with their fifteenth studio album “Turquoise” released September of last year.
Supersuckers
At a time when many alternative rock bands were either filtering hard rock tropes through a filter of irony or reworking them into grunge, the Supersuckers stood out as a band who approached their music with tongue firmly in cheek while still making it clear they loved arena-ready hard rock, both for its absurdity and for its punch-to-the-gut power. Playing like they should be in a 20,000-seat arena, the Supersuckers are like the bastard sons of Foghat, AC/DC, and ZZ Top after being weaned on punk rock, unafraid of massive guitar riffs, outsized personalities, or pledging allegiance to sex, weed, and Satan with a wink and a nudge.
VOLK
Lightning-charged duo VOLK is a Molotov cocktail of high-octane Rock & Roll and Honky-Tonking Country swagger. Boasting musical influences ranging from the Carter Family to Little Richard to Dwight Yoakam to ACDC. VOLK is loud suits and loud amps, shiny dresses and shiny drumsets; it’s growling tones and thunderous beats; VOLK is Rock & Roll, Country-Fried.
