The Rickshaw Theatre is proud to present some of Vancouver’s best & brightest before they head to Calgary for Sled Island!

Emma Goldman

Emma Goldman is a band from Vancouver, BC, whose unique style of raw, uncompromising hardcore embodies all the political tensions and absurdities of late capitalism. On their first full-length album, all you are is we (released on April 28, 2025, through Zegema Beach Records), Emma Goldman eschews the usual punk slogans, opting instead for emotional depth and sonic unpredictability—melding genre-pushing experimentation with imagery that reflects today’s hyperstimulating media landscape. With their pervasiveness and dedication to performances that aim to have communities dancing together, Emma Goldman asks: How do we find solidarity—and maybe even joy—amidst catastrophe?

Never Plenty

With a sound that blends ethereal atmospheres, soaring guitar riffs, and trippy synth textures, Never Plenty creates an immersive sonic experience that pulls listeners into a dreamlike landscape. The Vancouver four-piece offers a unique fusion of vintage influences and contemporary soundscapes, reflecting both the old and the new in the realm of psych rock.

Hillsboro

Infusing the swirling sounds of early ‘90s shoegaze with an infectious rhythm section, haunting violin, and the plaintive lyrics of frontman Nima Walker, Hillsboro’s raw sound manages to strike a delicate balance between something nostalgic and something wholly its own, creating a world in which fear and shame are excavated in an ecstatic fever.

Maneater

From the Pacific Northwest, Maneater is the musical project of best friends Lindsay Stewart and DJ On. Maneater’s sound is blown out, fuzzy, pop with infectious melodies complete with screeching guitar solos. They are self-described as Vancouver’s premiere gay son thot daughter rock n roll band.
