Cordie M. Sad
Hailing from Vancouver, BC, Cordelia emerges as a musical force, blending genres seamlessly with her captivating sound. Delving into the depths of human experience, Cordelia’s lyrics resonate with themes of love, loss and mental health. Her latest venture, the experimental pop EP “Monsters,” not only showcases her raw expression but also features intricate rhythms and haunting horn lines that push the boundaries of musical exploration.
Kites On Mars
In 2023 Kites On Mars (Nolen, Reid, Rachael, James and Spencer) came rocketing out of the gate with their eclectic EP “Lint”. The title track was a grungey fuzzed out meditation on disillusionment, equal parts The Smiths and Dinosaur Jr. Followed up by “Metric’’, a careening post-hardcore chainsaw, pointed square at the heart of the dysfunctional “Demagogues and Wall Street trolls” who pride profit and power over all. Rounded out by “Dissipate”. The result of Nolen “going all emo” over Reid’s ode to goth rock. On nearly completed EP 2 Kites seeks to both expand their stylistic range and refine their voice as they zero in on the quintessential Kites On Mars sound.
Helicopter Holiday!
Helicopter Holiday! are literally nowhere to be found on the internet. Popping up at random emo nights, Helicopter Holiday! breathe new life into old faves and know their way around a set list. Scream the sorrow with them as they dig up old favourites that hit that nostalgia sweet spot.
Junie and The Demons
Junita Thiessen is a multidisciplinary artist (a fancy term for “broke and loves attention.”) Performing under the stage name “JUNIE (and the Demons)”, everyone’s favorite Manic Pixie Psycho is often accompanied by a motley crew of demons. With saccharine vocals and lyrics ripped from her diary, she pairs emo sensibilities with a country lilt.
