Revocation creates extreme music for extreme times. On New Gods, New Masters, their fifth record for Metal Blade, the quartet–spearheaded by founder/vocalist/guitarist Dave Davidson–delivers nine potent and portentous songs of brutal lyrical and musical significance.
New Gods, New Masters marks the band’s 20th anniversary. Revocation debuted with 2008’s Empire of the Obscene and subsequently released seven critically acclaimed albums and toured over 25 countries, bringing their technically charged, high-energy extreme metal to North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. New Gods follows up 2022’s Netherheaven, where Davidson’s lyrics took hard looks at Catholicism, hypocrisy, politics, the occult and demonic symbolism. Critics raved about Netherheaven, calling it “Revocation’s best record in a decade” and praising the “darkest, heaviest songs of their career.”
Defeated Sanity
Defeated Sanity is a pioneering force in brutal death metal. Comprised of founding drummer Lille Gruber, bassist Jacob Schmidt, vocalist Josh Welshman, and guitarist Vaughn Stoffey, the band’s music is marked by complex riffs and brutal intensity that push the boundaries of the genre while preserving its raw core. Over the years, Defeated Sanity has continually redefined their sound, balancing technicality with brutal slams in albums like “Psalms of the Moribund”, “Chapters of Repugnance”, and “The Sanguinary Impetus”. Their much-anticipated new album, “Chronicles of Lunacy”, returns to their brutal roots while maintaining the technical complexity fans expect. Fusing old-school brutal death metal with jazzy chaos and classical precision, the band takes a more direct approach on this album. “Chronicles of Lunacy” delivers a brutal yet intricate tribute to the band’s earlier work, resonating with both longtime fans and newcomers.
Fuming Mouth
Fuming Mouth is an American death metal band formed in 2013 by Mark Whelan. Their debut full length album “The Grand Descent” was released in 2019 followed by their EP “Beyond the Tomb” in 2020. After a life-threatening battle with cancer, lead singer and guitarist Mark Whelan has returned to the band, cancer free, with their sophomore full length album “Last Day of Sun”.
