Don’t miss Vancouver’s own Freak Country band, Spank Williams, before they make the move to Montreal this Spring. Catch their Farewell Vancouver show at the Rickshaw on February 8th with support from Janky Bungag and worrywart.

This event is part of the “Setting the Stage” Concert Series sponsored by the RBC Foundation and The Canadian Live Music Association.

Spank Williams

Spank Williams is a country band from Vancouver, which takes as much from Hank Williams as they do from Tom Waits. The band has been cutting their teeth playing the bar and underground circuit of Vancouver BC for the last two years. Growing up in between the streets of Merritt BC and the streets of east Vancouver, Spank Williams takes influence from a multitude of genres and artists. Bringing high energy and an undying work ethic to everything they do.

Janky Bungag

Hailing from Vancouver, this Filipino-Canadian cowpunk artist draws inspiration from outlaw legends like Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, and Johnny Cash to bring you a high-energy blend of country and bluegrass. With fast picking and a high lonesome sound, Janky Bungag is sure to get the dance floor hopping.

worrywart

worrywart blossoms from friendship, making noise for queer love and celebrating tender explorations of anxiety. Bringing a sparkling grungy energy to performances, their dynamics on stage demonstrate a clear commitment to make every show electric and memorable for everyone they share space with.

worrywart urges you to dance in spiteful joy, and hold your people through the collapse. xoxo
