Montreal-based Rock Duo The King Khan & BBQ Show are making their return to The Rickshaw stage this October, with guests Miranda and the Beat.
The King Khan & BBQ Show
A Canadian garage rock duo tangentially based out of Montreal, Quebec, the King Khan & BBQ Show mix doo wop, punk, soul, and who knows what else into a loose, wild sound that is drenched in pure raw energy. Since about 2003, these two maniacs have been subverting culture, using a tried and true reverence for the holy spirit of real rock’n’roll, mixed with Grade-A songwriting sensibilities, and a penchant for sexually-charged and challenging live hijinks of the first order.
Miranda and the Beat
Miranda Zipse is a force of nature. Zipse and her musical partner Kim (“The Beat”) Sollecito began as a duo in Monterey, California in late 2017. The band moved to New York in 2018 (after a summer residency where they fell in with the veritable cult of Jonathan Toubin and his Soul Clap dance parties) and quickly added keys (Dylan Fernandez) and bass (Mike Roth) to their lineup. Demonstrably influenced by soul, yé-yé, surf, and the bands they shared bills with in their early West coast days (Tomb Weavers, Mystery Lights, Shoobies) and undeniably groovy, the quartet managed to record a new single before shelter-in-place orders were issued this Spring.
