NYC ska legends The Slackers take the Rickshaw stage On November 29th with guests Los Mal Hablados, Kownterpoint and Brasser!

The Slackers

Since 1991, the Slackers have released fifteen albums and countless singles, while their 1000s of live performances feed their fans with energetic sets of ecstatic music.

The Slackers have been called ‘the Sound of New York’ by the New York Times. They were described by Brooklyn Vegan as a “clean mix of Ska, Reggae, and Soul that gets dirtied up by Vic Ruggiero’s tough New York accent.’

Los Mal Hablados

Latin Skacore band based out of Portland.

Kownterpoint

When you combine diversity, with positive energy, you have the starting formula for what Kownterpoint brings to the table. Blending an eclectic mix of genres such as Reggae, Ska, Punk, Blues, Jazz, Surf, Grunge and Hip Hop, this band truly creates their own unique sound and style.

While proudly wearing many versatile influences on their sleeves, you can see the impact music has on these self-taught musicians through their songwriting.

Continuously switching around sets for each show, Kownterpoint always manages to connect with the energy of the crowd beautifully, and feeds off it well!  Subject to include spontaneous jamming, a Kownterpoint live show can travel in many unexpected, groovy directions.

Brasser

Carved from the remnants of the popular long-running internationally renowned ska band, The Brass Action, Brasser left some of the ska behind and blended in an entirely unhealthy dose of punk. The result is hard-hitting, in-your-face, punk rock now with a two-piece horn section! These fellas that have been impressing audiences since COVID restrictions have been lifted and plan on showing off around North America 2024. Since its inception, Brasser has formulated more than an album worth of songs and has blasted stages all over the Lower Mainland including Punkcouver Fest 2022 and taking the stage at Vancouver’s famous Commodore Ballroom. The band has been frequenting British Columbia’s Interior touring with Stomp Records’ K-Man and The 45s (Montreal), and Fat Wreck Chords’ Days N Daze (Texas), and Sony’s illScarlett! Brasser’s main goal is to get audiences on their feet dancing, moshing, and partying.
