Insomnium
Only a handful of bands – melodic death metal or otherwise – reach their tenth studio album with the creative fire still burning white-hot. Fewer still manage to deliver the defining statement of their entire career. After nearly three decades and a catalogue filled with landmark releases, Insomnium have not only met that challenge – they’ve surpassed it.
Like a bolt of lightning tearing across the mist-shrouded forests of Karelia, Netherworlds arrives as the sound of Insomnium at their most complete and compelling. The Finnish masters of melancholic heaviness have refined every element of their signature style into something both devastatingly heavy and richly atmospheric. Towering riffs, sweeping melodies and moments of haunting fragility collide in a definitive statement of the band’s identity.
Amorphis
Rock and metal music have always been a haven for those who have bigger stories to tell; who have grander emotions to convey. For more than thirty years, Finnish figureheads Amorphis have done their best to carve their very own niche in heartfelt yet aggressive, melancholic yet soothing tunes. The Fins underline their trailblazing status as one of the most original, culturally relevant and rewarding acts ever to emerge from the land of the thousand lakes.
Thirty-one years after their inception, with uncounted global tours under their belt and fourteen albums deep in their career, Amorphis still proves to be the musical fountain of youth, an extraordinary band constantly reinventing itself without abandoning its mystical roots.
Hinayana
Hinayana is a hard-hitting melodic death/doom metal band from the heart of Texas with a brooding, aggressive, and emotive sound. Since signing with Napalm Records in 2020, Hinayana has done several tours across Europe with acts such as Moonspell, Borknagar, Wolfheart, Before the Dawn, Insomnium, and Omnium Gatherum. The band is now gearing up for a US tour this fall, to be announced soon.
Hinayana’s latest single, “Tempest Horizon”, showcases the band’s ability to create the perfect storm of soaring melodic passages with bone-crushing riffs. They are working on a new album, due out in 2026, which will be a follow-up to the band’s 2023 full-length release “Shatter and Fall”.
